So what is RankBrain?
It is a machine learning (AI) system that Google uses to better understand keywords. it is the third most important tool it uses to enhance the quality of its Search Engine Result Page (SERP).
Before RankBrain, Google’s algorithm was hand-coded which it made difficult to deal with the 450 million never-seen-before keywords every day. Instead, they came up with RankBrain, a self-learning AI that makes changes to the algorithm on its own and implements those changes based on user response.
It mainly considers two parameters for making those changes in the first place:
- Dwell Time
- Click Through Rate
Dwell time is the amount of time a user spends on a website. If for a search query, most users don’t like the top result and quickly jump to the second page where they like the answers and stay long enough to read it, RankBrain will demote the top page and uprank the second one, so that it’s easier for users to find it in the future.
If you want to increase dwell time on your page, try including in-depth long-form content and videos.
Click through rate is the stat showing how many users do click on your website before others. If your Click through rate is higher than your competitors, RankBrain will boost your ranking.
Focus on catchy titles containing brackets and numbers and exciting description tags to increase your click-through rate.
